History > On the Threshold:
Year 1994 the Beginning
The Jonai Girls’ College is situated in vicinity of Jonai Township area established in 1994 with the cherished goal of spreading and imparting higher education and broader knowledge among backward and female students of Jonai Sub-Division and others. And since the day of its inception the College has been relentlessly working to attain its cherished goal. Jonai Girls’ College is the outcome of concerted efforts of the local people of Jonai, sacrifice and dedication of the teaching and non-teaching staff of College, the farsighted management and sincerity and devotion of students the College has come across hurdles way on its to reach this present stage.
It would be worthwhile to mention that the Jonai Girls’ College is the only educational institution in entire Sub-Division imparting female students and now in a position to provide optimum infrastructure facilities to the students, teachers and office staff. The College authority is making sincere efforts to get rid of the shortcomings and fulfil the pressing needs of the students, staff and the College as a whole with a view to creating a conducive atmosphere and environment for academic development. And we are quite hopeful that this will be achieved in a short time with the help and co-operation of all concerned.
It is aware of fact that the place in which the Jonai Girls’ College is located was erstwhile under the NEFA (North Eastern Frontier Agency) was transferred and created Tribal Belt in 1951, 13th March, with nomenclature Murkongselek (Jonai) Tribal Belt. It is one of the remote and backward areas in the District of Dhemaji, Assam bordering Arunachal Pradesh.
The College is aware that it must do its bit to remain temporarily relevant keeping pace with the changing time. Steps are being taken to introduce complementary career-oriented courses to help the students to face the increasingly competitive job market. It is felt that in the context of the present time, the College can no longer remain a cloistered academic institution but has to reach out to the community and a number of extension activities have been taken up accordingly. The aim of the college is to produce batches of students that are, at the same time, educated in the real sense of the term and socially conscious human beings who understand the worth of human value. The vision of the College is spelt out in the motto of the College - “ENTER HERE TO GROW IN STATURE, BE A COMPLETE WOMAN AND SERVE MANKIND”.
We, at Girls’ College, Jonai, insist on imparting quality education besides inculcating sense of discipline, respect for tradition and scientific outlook. Ours is a relentless pursuit to remain relevant through meticulous planning, hard work and updating. The endeavour is to contribute our precious little towards nation building.
